The West Coast Wilderness Railway is offering a guided whisky tasting as an optional extra on the half day Rack and Gorge tour out of Queenstown.

The whiskies are distilled by Hellyer Road, a Tasmanian distiller located near Burnie in the state’s north.

The lively tasting and tutorial on local whiskies costs $10 and passengers get to sample a 10 year-old whisky, a single malt, pinot noir finished whisky and to complete the experience a whisky cream liqueur.

This optional activity is exclusive to small groups of ten passengers per tour.

After the journey, guests can receive a 10% discount on any whisky purchases made in the Railway's gift shop.
