It was our very great pleasure recently to host Ernie Dingo and his crew aboard the West Coast Wilderness Railway.
Ernie joined us on the footplate and in the Wilderness Carriage for our half-day Rack and Gorge tour from Queenstown.
Ernie spent the morning with driver Barry and apprentice fireman Brock, finding out what goes on behind the scenes to keep our engines running.
On the way back he chatted with steward Andrew about the history and ongoing significance of the railway in the community.
Ernie’s experience has been showcased in an episode of Going Places with Ernie Dingo on SBS and NITV in which he explores Tasmania’s West Coast in a variety of ways, including Strahan Helicopters, Roam Wild Tasmania, Gordon River Cruises and Sarah Island guide Kiah Davey, as well as the West Coast Wilderness Railway.
If you missed it, catch up with Ernie Dingo's trip aboard the West Coast Wilderness Railway on SBS On Demand.
