Adventure from the Rails to the Raft with West Coast Wilderness Railway

Tasmania’s West Coast Wilderness Railway has teamed up with King River Rafting Company to offer an exciting new half day wilderness journey – King River Gorge Raft & Steam.

Experience the rugged beauty of the King River Gorge, its rainforest, Huon pine and exhilarating rapids with King River Rafting before meeting the West Coast Wilderness Railways historic steam train to journey through the rainforest back to Queenstown

Raft – Start your adventure rafting on the King River as your qualified and experienced guides safely navigate the raft down the rapids and the exciting King River Gorge where you emerge at Sailor Jack Creek and the Rhododendron Pool. You then continue on to Dubbil Barril station to meet the train.

Steam – Board the historic steam train deep in the rainforest at Dubbil Barril station. Enjoy the ride in comfort in a Heritage carriage as the you climb the mountain on the Rack & Pinion section of the line. Be amazed at the spectacular views of the King River Gorge that you rafted through. Hear tales of hardship, the characters and how the terrain was tamed to allow Queenstown to sell its ore to the rest of the world

Available on Thursdays only, from November 2016 to mid April 2017

The tour starts and ends in Queenstown – 8:15am to 1:00pm. Tickets cost $300 for adults and $200 for children with a minimum age 10yrs. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost includes all rafting gear (wetsuits, helmets) & Heritage class train ticket.

The rafting is suitable for people aged 10 – 70. Maximum guests on each departure is 16. Bookings are essential.
